She was an American living in Atlanta and said, "Hey, why don't you come and spend the winter with me?" Now that I'm an adult, and I've traveled all around the state and country, I've grown to appreciate where I'm from. I spent the first 24 years of my life in Miami, and now live in a smaller Central Florida town off of the Space Coast. Although I wouldn't live in Miami again, I'll happily keep a quaint old Florida town near the beach as my forever home. Fortunately, I'd say it's really only brutally hot in Florida for three months out of the year, from July through September. Living near a beach is important to meI'm embarrassed to admit that I used to take the beach for granted.

Sydney CNN —Three players from Australia’s top soccer league have been arrested and charged over an alleged betting scam, accused of deliberately getting yellow cards and giving away penalties at the behest of a South American criminal. A senior A-League player allegedly took instructions from the mastermind and arranged the infractions with teammates in designated games last year, according to New South Wales Police. Investigators have not disclosed the players’ team, but said they are attached to a club in Sydney’s south-west. Nor did they find evidence that players from other teams may have been complicit, he said. He said the bets were placed offshore, predominantly in South America, with no trace that betting has come from Australia.

Trucks of humanitarian aid began moving ashore into Gaza early Friday via a temporary pier built by the U.S. military, the first supplies of aid to be sent into the enclave by sea in two months. But the new shipments of food and other supplies fall far short of what humanitarian groups say is needed to meet the staggering levels of hunger and deprivation in Gaza. The war-torn territory of 2.2 million civilians is more reliant than ever on humanitarian aid. Using telescopes capable of detecting X-rays, a team of astronomers has for the first time observed this area — called the “plunging region” — in a black hole about 10,000 light-years from Earth. The study’s findings could help astronomers better understand the formation and evolution of black holes. One thing that’s missing from the study is an actual image of the black hole, because it is too small and far away. But another team of Oxford researchers is working on something even better than a picture: the first movie of a black hole. “For example, it can be used to measure the rotation rate of the black hole,” said Reynolds, who was not involved in the study.
